Motivation
One facet of the VP that is difficult to express in print is the passion and determination that you get when speaking with Anthony, Gwen, Lupa or any of the other individuals involved. This is a labor of love. Everyone involved seems to genuinely enjoy their work. It's my understanding from Anthony that a great deal of the models asked to be on the project rather than being asked. The cover model on the preview, the little devil, is actually one of the Photoshop artists. Brains and beauty, what a combination.

I gleaned from Gwen that she definitely has a background in gaming, about 17 years worth. She spoke of time spent playing Lords of Creation, D&D, Civilization and other board games. As I mentioned above, there are vast sums of work detailing just about every other aspect of gaming but very little on the erotic. Previous attempts have been received rather harshly for reasons ranging from lack of quality to treatment of the subject matter. All the players in this project come to the table with eyes wide open. They know it will be a challenge but look toward it with anticipation. It's taken almost one year from conception to realization (~December '02 was when the idea was fomented).

One other individual that I haven't mentioned, and is a large part of the excitement, is the photographer Doug Safford. You can view some of his work at www.hypnox.com. The majority is alternative, so to speak, but recently he has been involved in more mainstream work (music industry for one). His combination of lighting, position and expression make these images artwork rather than merely photos. The collaboration between Lupa and Doug produces some truly exquisite pictorials.

Fini
I would like to express my gratitude to Anthony, Susan, Gwen and the whole group for their hard work, dedication and insight for providing me with the opportunity to discover more about this fascinating project. I must confess that my first impression when hearing about the Valar Project was one of apprehension. I wasn't sure that I wanted to tackle this subject, considering the gamers I had been involved with but I am glad I succumbed. There are many tracks this whole notion could have taken and without the right team it might have turned into an abysmal failure. The RPG community will finally decide if it will be a commercial success, though for everyone involved it would seem to already be a personal success. Be sure to visit the Valar Project on-line and watch for the book in October.

Post Script
I almost forgot, Phil and Dixie. Along with all the great items I mentioned above, you'll be able to catch Phil and Dixie in the book. There will be an exclusive Phil and Dixie strip included in the book. Nowhere else will you find this one. If you want to find out more about Phil and Dixie visit the web presence at www.studiofoglio.com. I have tried to be as complete as possible and provide you with the most comprehensive look at the Book of Erotic fantasy that I could. If you still have questions feel free to stop in at the Valar Project website, www.valarproject.com.

Finally, here's a little sample of what you can expect from the full book in October. One is of Anthony and Lupa, the others are characters from the book:
