Introduction:

Reading this should let you know that your monitor is one of the least upgraded computer components. Five to One odds say, that you have had your monitor for over a year, and that your CD Burner is less than 9 months old. Yet, a new monitor is usually cheaper than some of the top burners out there. This is a phenomenon that will confuse me forever. How something as important as a monitor can go overlooked for so long is amazing.

KDS should be a household name by now. They have been making monitors for a long time, and the monitors they make, usually go unnoticed. There are a few reasons for this. They don't spend a lot of money on advertising, and usually people have a tendency to look at the prices before they look at the product. One of the problems with the latter is that when you look at something that is not expensive, we as humans usually think this is a representation of quality. This is the farthest thing from the truth… Proof you ask? It's in the pudding! Look at the Lite-On burners… under $100 bucks and some of the best out there.

KDS Xtreme FLAT monitors are no exception. They are not expensive, perform well, and have some options that are sure to help your straining eyes.

Features:

The KDS XF-70 boasts some impressive features. For starters this is a 17" monitor with a viewable area of 16". The monitor has a dot pitch of .24mm (horizontal) with an anti reflective coating to reduce glare and eye strain. This is a handy little feature for those of us who enjoy sunlight but strain when it is reflecting from our monitor. The XF-70 supports resolutions as high as 1280x1024 @ 60HZ - (if you go any higher on a seventeen inch monitor you must have SUPER vision)

If you look carefully, you can see the faint blue reflection of light from the windows behind me… The Big Bright spot on the screen is from the camera flash!

The controls are all on screen, that's right; there are no knobs to turn! This on screen menu is easy to use and very intuitive; it tells you your screen resolution as well as the horizontal and vertical frequencies. The navigation pictures don't leave you guessing either… at the bottom of the menu the name of the submenu is displayed.

Specifications:

The 17" XF-70 with Trio Dot Pitch Technology allows the screen to be extremely flat when compared to other standard CRT monitors. The extreme flat screen virtually eliminates all glares making it easier on the eyes. The XF-70 features a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz and a .25 Trio Dot Pitch perfect for high graphic files or advanced excel sheets. Plus it is backed by KARES, the industry's only lifetime advanced replacement express service.

The features and benefits of an anti reflective coating and a true flat (as apposed to pure flat) alone are well worth the price. The easy to navigate on screen menu was a breeze to adjust key settings such as screen size, placement, colors, and brightness.

Well, time to break out the black spray paint!!!
