SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD 128GB Review

If you are in the market for an SSD, there are a lot of options.  The market is so flooded that it may become difficult to pick one.  SanDisk thinks they can persuade you to choose their Ultra Plus Solid State Drive by keeping the price low and performance that is on par with drives that cost more.  SanDisk brings to the table with them years of experience. They are not new to this game, but do they have what it takes to get your hard-earned cache (deliberate play on words)? Can they deliver with the SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD?

The SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD is available in three sizes: 256GB, 128GB, and 64GB.  All three flavors sport a three year limited warranty, a SATA 6GB/s interface, and an MTBF of 2 million hours (that is 228.1591052 Years).  The drive measures in at 7mm x 69.85mm x 100.5mm and ships with an adhesive spacer for 9mm applications.  If you are expecting software for cloning, screws, a mounting bracket, or SATA cable; you are going to have to purchase their SSD conversion kit separately.

We love speed... and after reviewing the Samsung 840 Pro, we were chomping at the bit to get the 840 EVO in the lab. Not only does the newer EVO model use newer 19nm 3-bit Triple-Level Cell vs that of 2-bit MLC found in the 840 Pro, but it also features a much more attractive price-point and an increased IOPS... on paper.

  1. Thanks. I’d have seen this review before I bought it. I totally disapointed with the Writing Speed.
